Snow fields

Snowblossom's proof of work reads from large precomputed "snow fields". A higher field activates once the average difficulty passes its activation difficulty; miners then need the larger field. Difficulty is logarithmic: one unit means twice the hashrate.

The next field, shai-hulud, activates at difficulty 45; the average difficulty is 37.58, so the network has 0.58% of the required hashrate and would need 171× as much. The difficulty is currently below the activation difficulty of the active field hippo (43); fields never deactivate.
