Snow fields
Snowblossom's proof of work reads from large precomputed "snow fields". A higher field activates once the average difficulty passes its activation difficulty; miners then need the larger field. Difficulty is logarithmic: one unit means twice the hashrate.
| # | Name | Size | Activation difficulty | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | cricket | 1.00 GB | 25 | retired |
| 1 | shrew | 2.00 GB | 27 | retired |
| 2 | stoat | 4.00 GB | 29 | retired |
| 3 | ocelot | 8.00 GB | 31 | retired |
| 4 | pudu | 16.00 GB | 33 | retired |
| 5 | badger | 32.00 GB | 35 | retired |
| 6 | capybara | 64.00 GB | 37 | retired |
| 7 | llama | 128.00 GB | 39 | retired |
| 8 | bugbear | 256.00 GB | 41 | retired |
| 9 | hippo | 512.00 GB | 43 | active |
| 10 | shai-hulud | 1,024.00 GB | 45 | next 0.58% of the hashrate needed |
| 11 | avanc | 2,048.00 GB | 47 |
The next field, shai-hulud, activates at difficulty 45; the average difficulty is 37.57, so the network has 0.58% of the required hashrate and would need 172× as much. The difficulty is currently below the activation difficulty of the active field hippo (43); fields never deactivate.
History last 24 hours, hourly buckets
Computed from block headers (52,512 blocks over 365 days kept in memory), refreshed every 5 minutes; last update . The last bucket is partial; hashrate and difficulty are averages over the blocks in a bucket, so the bucket with no blocks carries the last reading forward, drawn as a hollow point.
